Cherry Glazerr – Ready For You

Inhaltlich geht es in Ready For You um das Bewusstsein, seine eigenen Probleme nicht auf sein direktes Umfeld auszulassen und dadurch Menschen zu verletzen. Das Gefühl der Unzugänglichkeit und des Ausprobierens muss hier im Fokus stehen. Passend dazu gibt es ein ästhetisch-sehr schönes Musikvideo, dass Cherry Glazerr in der Wüstenlandschaft des bekannten Joshua Tree's zeigt:

„Sometimes I feel scared about infecting people with my own troubles, and I just want to hide because then I can save them from myself. This song helps me move through it and confront those feelings of inadequacy, I hope it does that for other people too. We rented this cool old car and old motel room out in Joshua Tree and shot everything there. The band came out and we did all those shots performing in the back of a moving UHaul and it was 118 degrees in the desert. Sarah and Fonz, the guy who plays my love in the video, and the whole crew, brought such good energy to the whole project. This was one of my favorite videos I've ever done.“

Vier Jahre ist es her, dass Cherry Glazerr ihr von Kritikern und Fans-gelobtes drittes Album Stuffed and Ready veröffentlicht hat – Frontsängerin/Gitarristin Clementine Creevy hat sich für den Songwriting-Prozess bewusst Zeit genommen:

„I've spent these years taking a hard look at myself, at my relationships, and writing about it,“ sagt sie. „I guess I'm coming to terms with a lot of my bullshit.“ Die Band ist schon seit zehn Jahren fast konstant auf Tour, und als die Pandemie ausbrach, tauchte sie in eine statische Existenz ein, die ihr vorenthalten worden war. Laut Creevy ist es sehr schwer, wenn man ständig unterwegs auf Tour ist, zu wissen, ob bestimme Beziehungen funktionieren oder nicht.

Creevy beschreibt ihr ehrgeiziges neues Album als ihr bisher persönlichstes und rohestes Werk, eine Sammlung von Songs, die diese Zeit der Selbstaufgabe verarbeiten. Es ist das erste Album, das sie seit ihrem Debüt selbst mitproduziert hat – dieses ist vor fast einem Jahrzehnt erschienen, als Creevy noch ein Teenager war.

„It's a real ‘losing your fucking shit' kind've vibe“, erzählt sie. “I wanted this album to be just heart and soul. Completely exposed. It's also a little bit about loving the anguish and toxicity that comes with being ruined by another person. Letting go and submitting to them but then catching yourself becoming too much like them.“
