Vor einiger Zeit schon veröffentlichten The Libertines um Peter Doherty und Carl Barât eine weitere Single aus ihrem neuen Album All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, das getragene Shiver. „Reasons to stay alive, not to die at 25“, singt Doherty darin mit kraftvoller Stimme.

Das ganz in schwarz-weiß gehaltene Musikvideo nimmt uns mit auf eine Beerdigung an der englische Ostküste. “Peter had a song and I had a song and we mashed them up and did it collaboratively”, berichtet Carl Barât über die Entstehung von Shiver. Peter ergänzt: “Shiver is very much from Doherty/Barât, where I would probably find it difficult to work out who did what because we were both there the whole time through its creation. It should really be called The Last Dream Of Every Dying Soldier, but everyone liked the title Shiver.”
