In Hawaiian Pizza feiert Trunky Juno die Freundschaften, die wir trotz (und oft auch wegen) unserer Unterschiede schließen, und nutzt den fragwürdigen Pizzabelag, um auf eine grundsätzlichere und universelle Botschaft hinzuweisen. Mit dem Text “I’ve got Hawaiian pizza in the oven coming soon, the fridge is full of cold ones, enough for two” hebt Trunky Juno die Freude hervor, die man empfindet, wenn man die einfachen Dinge des Lebens mit anderen teilt und klingt dabei wie die Art von Freund, den wir alle brauchen.

“Hawaiian Pizza is a song about tuning out people who shit all over everything you like. I like Hawaiian pizza, you like Hawaiian pizza so let’s be friends and eat Hawaiian pizza together.”- erzählt Trunky Juno.

“Good Dog EP is the next evolution of Trunky as I morph from writing silly yet insightful songs in my bedroom, into writing silly yet insightful songs in my bedroom that sound better. On the surface it may seem like a bunch of nonsense about pizza and cigarettes, but if you dig a little deeper hopefully people will release there’s a lot more to these songs – whether tackling themes of escapism or the one-way mirror of social media.”

Trunky Juno nutzte den Lockdown um an neuer Musik zu arbeiten. Der Engländer ist für seine charakteristische Lo-Fi Sounds bekannt und beschreibt sich selbst als “lo-fi noodler”.

Seine Debüt-EP Too many teeth bekam im letzten Jahr bereits Support von Beats 1, BBC Radio 1, The Line of Best Fit, Dork und diverse Spotify Playlist-Platzierungen. Die neue EP enthält unter anderem die Single Daddy’s Gone For Cigarettes, die von Jack Saunders in BBC Radio 1’s Future Artist und The Indie Show vorgestellt wurde und auf vielen Spotify & Apple Music-Playlisten gefeatured ist.
