Timelapse: Lappland

Die Timelapse-Videos sind rar geworden, was auch keiner Wunder ist bei diesen ganzen Hyperlapse-Dingern – bin ich nach wie vor kein Fan und widerspricht für mich dem Sinn eines Timelapse-Videos. Dazu kommt, dass wir eigentlich schon alles gesehen haben, da wird es schlichtweg schwer, noch mit neuem Material zu überzeugen. Zumal ja jeder immer seinen Vorgänger übertreffen muss und natürlich ist der Grad an Qualität endlich – gerade bei Städte-Timelapsen gibt es eigentlich nichts mehr, das man noch großartig zeigen könnte (oder ich kann es mir aktuell einfach nicht vorstellen).

Also richten wir den Blick wieder auf die Natur und heute ganz konkret nach Lappland. Dank Trump ist Finnland ohnehin passenderweise in den Medien und so wie sich das für ihn gehört durch ziemlich viel Dummheit. Wer es nicht mitbekommen hat: Der Präsident der US of A ist der Meinung, dass vor allem das Nichtbeseitigen von Laub einen ganz wesentlichen Bestandteil zu den aktuellen Waldbränden beigetragen hat. Der Idiot.

Lapland – the Untouched takes you to some of the remotest places in the Finnish wilderness. These uninhabited and roadless areas have remained in their near-natural state hidden away from most of mankind – unspoilt, as they should be.

In the northernmost Lapland summer is over before it even begins. During the snow-free time the only way to reach the locations shown in the film is by foot. Lapland the Untouched covers 600km of hiking in 6 wilderness areas and in the Urho Kekkonen National Park and the Kevo Strict Nature Reserve.

I’ve done timelapse-films alone for quite some time now and doing everything on your own requires a lot. Carrying half of your weight in gear in the wild may be physically hard, but the greatest battles are fought in the mind. During the less pleasant moments you realise just how alone you really are and begin to understand what really matters the most.
